Counsellors are trained to listen and support the client while the client explores their feelings in a safe, supportive, confidential, non-judgmental environment. The relationship between counsellor and client is a professional relationship based on respect and trust.
People present for counselling with a wide range of problems, for example, relationship problems, family conflicts, bereavement, abuse, depression, eating disorders, anxiety, stress and panic attacks to name a few.
Counselling offers the client the opportunity to explore their problems, and to understand and express feelings and emotions associated with the problems. Counselling offers opportunities for change, change of perspective, change of circumstances and change of behaviour.
